কোনো ছবি English-এ describe করা, নতুন কারও সঙ্গে small talk শুরু করা এবং connected speech একটু natural শোনানো—এই তিনটি skill speaking confidence বাড়াতে খুব কাজে লাগে। এই lesson-এ আমরা simple structure দিয়ে practice করব।
১. Picture Description শুরু করার সহজ Formula
একটি picture describe করতে চার ধাপে এগোতে পারেন: place → people/things → action → detail/opinion। এতে কী বলবেন বুঝতে সহজ হয়।
- Place: The picture shows a busy street.
- People/Things: There are several people and two cars.
- Action: A man is crossing the road.
- Detail/Opinion: It looks like a sunny afternoon.
২. There is / There are
একটি জিনিস হলে There is, একাধিক হলে There are ব্যবহার করুন।
There is a table near the window.
There are three students in the room.
There is a bag on the chair.
৩. Action বলার জন্য Present Continuous
ছবিতে কেউ এখন কী করছে বোঝাতে am/is/are + verb-ing ব্যবহার করুন।
The woman is talking on the phone.
Two children are playing football.
The driver is waiting beside the car.
৪. Position Words
- next to — পাশে
- in front of — সামনে
- behind — পেছনে
- between — দুইটির মাঝখানে
- on the left / on the right — বাম/ডান পাশে
- in the background — পেছনের অংশে
৫. Small Talk কী?
Small talk হলো হালকা, friendly conversation। নতুন colleague, classmate, neighbour বা পরিচিত কারও সঙ্গে কথা শুরু করতে safe topic ব্যবহার করা যায়—weather, work, study, travel, hobbies বা current activity।
৬. Useful Small Talk Questions
- How’s your day going?
- What do you do?
- Are you from around here?
- What do you usually do on weekends?
- Have you been here before?
- How did you find the event?
Question করার পর নিজের answer-ও দিন। শুধু প্রশ্নের পর প্রশ্ন করলে conversation interview-এর মতো শোনাতে পারে।
৭. Follow-up Question ব্যবহার করুন
A: I like travelling.
B: Really? Where did you go last?
A: I went to Cox’s Bazar.
B: Nice. What did you enjoy most?
৮. Natural Pronunciation: “Did you”
Fast conversational English-এ কিছু sound একসাথে মিলতে পারে। যেমন did you অনেক native speech-এ “didju”-র মতো শোনাতে পারে। Beginner হিসেবে আগে clear pronunciation শিখুন; পরে listening practice করতে করতে connected sound চিনতে শিখুন।

Did you see the message?
Would you like some tea?
৯. Common Mistakes
❌ In this picture have three people.
✅ There are three people in this picture.
❌ The boy playing football.
✅ The boy is playing football.
❌ What you do on weekends?
✅ What do you do on weekends?
১০. Speaking Practice
আপনার ফোনের একটি সাধারণ photo বেছে নিন। 45 seconds ধরে বলুন: কোথায়, কে আছে, কী করছে, কী কী জিনিস দেখা যাচ্ছে এবং ছবিটি সম্পর্কে আপনার opinion কী। তারপর দুইটি small-talk question তৈরি করুন।

1. Three books থাকলে “There is” নাকি “There are”?
2. Correct: “She talking to a friend.”
3. Small talk-এর জন্য একটি follow-up question লিখুন।
4. “behind” এর অর্থ কী?
Answers: 1. There are 2. She is talking to a friend. 3. Example: What do you like about it? 4. পেছনে
